Sign and print business Tiskarna Print Point makes the right decision with MultiPress

Slovenian company Tiskarna Print Point has grown significantly over the past decade. Blaz Smid's company started as a one-man business and has grown into a sign and large format printing company. To support their expansion, they decided to work with MultiPress.

From one-man business to leading print business

Ten years ago, Blaz Smid started a small one-man business, focusing on printing CD stickers for promotional purposes, and labels to promote DJs, singers and songwriters. As an entrepreneur, however, he realised he could do more and decided to build his own website to advertise his services. He therefore had to expand his business, as customers visited both his small shop in Ljubljana and his recently revamped website with web shop.

Today, Tiskarna Print Point mainly serves B2B customers in Slovenia. Most customers are delivered directly, about 15% of deliveries are through agencies. The more professional approach, greater precision and improved colours supported the growth of his company.

MultiPress as central link for large-format, sign and offset

Blaz not only expanded his sales strategies, he also invested in other production technologies and new digital machines. Almost from the start, customers asked for large-format print products and signs. He therefore decided to invest in his first Epson solvent printer, a Summa vinyl cutter and laminator. This expansion meant he hired more employees at Tiskarna Print Point. 

The next step in the Print Point story was the acquisition of an offset printing plant in Ljubljana with one B2 offset colour press and one B3 press. Blaz: "In fact, MultiPress made this acquisition of an offset printing company possible, because although we were not immediately familiar with this production technology, by simply configuring that part of the business in MultiPress as well, we were up and running within two weeks. So we can safely say that this would not have been possible without MultiPress."

MultiPress connects administration with production

The link between production and administration was and is business-critical. The company made every effort to process the increasing number of orders, but with production sites in two different locations and relevant invoices to be sent, checked and paid, the workload was considerable. Moreover, the administration system with spreadsheets and other tools was disorganised. MultiPress, with its coverage of a wide variety of print jobs and its extensive range of production technologies, proved to be the perfect solution to manage the situation.

MultiPress for planning, stock management, invoicing and e-commerce

MultiPress was initially introduced with calculation as its main priority. With better organisation, the company has a reliable basis to build on in the future. Blaz is convinced that MultiPress's modular structure will provide an excellent path for future growth. Planning and stock management are now handled in MultiPress. Once the new website is live, e-commerce in MultiPress will be linked to financial modules such as price calculation, invoicing and follow-up planning.
